Noise is disturbing and loud sound, which people perceive as uncomfortable and annoying. According to the definition of the Anti-Noise Act (1987/382), noise is sound or comparable vibration, which is a genuine risk to health and significantly decreases environmental comfort or remarkably affects working.
Noise creates changes in the sensory cells of the inner ear. Hearing is incurably damaged, due to the fact that the sensory cells of the inner ear are not replaced. The hearing defect can develop gradually over 10 or even 20 years. This impairment takes place insidiously without noticeable symptoms. Hearing cannot be improved, it can only be protected!
Loud noises, especially shock or impulse noises, permanently impair hearing. Noise also affects the flow of blood; it contracts the veins and increases the heart rate. Noise affects concentration increasing the risk of accidents and reducing working accuracy. Noise also creates stress and causes insomnia.
